Nigel Sia was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and have been capturing stories on video for over 14 years in various segments of life such as parties, church events, launches, social gatherings, fashion shows and weddings. He is the founder of Visual Story, a boutique video production company which offers planning and execution of video for digital/commercial use and is also a passionate wedding filmmaker.
In the past couple of years, besides capturing candid and treasured wedding moments, Nigel has also filmed, directed and edited web-based short films such as ‘Beyond The Still’ and ‘Grandma Fong’ which are Top 3 and Top 5 finalists consecutively in local film competitions in 2011.
In 2012, he directed, filmed and edited a 24-episode web-drama series, ‘Khabar Cinta’, a first of its kind at the time (before the boom of the local Youtube scene), for the chocolate brand Vochelle that garnered over 500,000 views collectively in the months of its release. He also directed and edited a music video for local band Inverted Coma with their song ‘Don’t Need You’, a song about unity and voting for a better future which was shortlisted under the ‘Best Music Video’ category for VIMA 2013.
Currently, Nigel is producing videos for digital campaigns for various brands while continuing his love for telling stories through his wedding films and personal projects. His past clients include Maxis, IBM, Reckitt Benckiser, Twisties, Cadbury, FURLA, Old Town White Coffee, Ben Sherman, Mercedes-Benz, GlaxoSmithKline, Dettol, Drypers, Anmum, Ubermen, Scholl, Nuffnang, Guiness, IKEA, Chanel and many others.
